He most recently served as President and CEO of TriNet (TNET) for 15 years, steering the company to become a premier provider of comprehensive human resources solutions for more than 22,000 customers of small and medium-sized businesses (SMBs).
Prior to TriNet, Goldfield held pivotal leadership roles at companies including Rational Software (RATL), where he created advanced, groundbreaking software tools used by the Department of Defense; Hyperion Solutions (HYSL), where he achieved a breakthrough with Essbase using OLAP for analytics; and IBM Corporation (IBM).
Burton M. Goldfield is a renowned business executive with over 25 years of leadership experience. From 2008 to 2024, he served as President and CEO of TriNet (NYSE: TNET), transforming it into the leading cloud-based professional employer organization for small and medium-sized businesses. Under Goldfield's leadership, TriNet successfully completed its IPO on the NYSE, grew its market capitalization to in excess of $6 billion, and expanded its service to more than 350,000 worksite employees.
Goldfield began his career at Rational Software (RATL), where he spearheaded
the company’s domestic and international sales growth, taking its revenues from $25 million to more than $700 million (at acquisition). Following Rational's acquisition by IBM Corporation (IBM) for $2.1 billion, he transitioned to a worldwide leadership role. He later served as Senior Vice President at Hyperion Solutions (HYSL). He was named 'Most Admired CEO' by the San Francisco Business Times and 'CEO of the Year' by CEO World Awards. He is currently the Principal of Goldfield Ventures LLC and an Independent Board Member at health benefits leader Healthee.
He holds a bachelor’s degree in biomedical engineering from Syracuse University
and an MBA from Villanova University.
